Is this stuff USED? What do you mean by VINTAGE?

Yes, most of our merchandise is used. Occasionally, we will find something very old, but also with its original tags attached, but most of the time, our things have been loved before.

In order to be considered “vintage” clothing must be at least 20 years old. Anything made before the 1920s would be considered “antique” rather than vintage. We focus on items made between the 1940s and the 1970s, although we often have a couple of items a little older and a little newer.

Who buys this stuff?

Vintage is a growing trend in clothing. So much so that clothing companies like ModCloth and Anthropologie have created huge businesses around selling replica vintage clothing. Young ladies between 15 and 35 years of age tend to be our best customers, but anyone who enjoys fashion will enjoy vintage.

We also carry some very outrageous things that are often purchased for costume parties or themed events. Customers shopping for costumes often find that cheap replicas cost as much as our authentic originals.

Where do you get this stuff?

We get our inventory from a variety of sources. Some of our things were acquired at estate sales and thrift stores. Much of our higher-value merchandise is consigned. We also purchase. If you have clothing that think might be right for Vintage Tex, please check out our Purchases/Consignments page!
